A story about Rebecca Walker

Ms. Walker came to USF in 2004 and I had the privilege of meeting her and hearing her discuss her book “What Makes a Man” beautiful book, beautiful woman… she helped me to create my own definitions… further explore the “reasons why” things exist as they do and how my ideas of gender, sex, love, humanity, politics, and even myself were often formed with a generous helping of outside influences… she fascinates me. I’ve read and enjoyed her work numerous time as I find her writing style a comfort and her work always seems to inspire me to ask more questions and seek my own answers.

A question I have about Alice Walker

I really would like to interview Ms. Walker for a play I’m writing centered around the dichotomy of the mother/daughter relationship. I have always been fascinated with the two as they are both great writers and their choice of lovers has been parallel at times in their lives.

The real reason I want to meet psalmsofnia

she’s beautiful, her list of goals is inspiring… she seems cool… I appreciate women of color who are older than me and may have something positive to teach… It’d be cool to write with her or just sit and talk about life. Plus, she’s a fly ass poet.

Why I want to meet Saul Williams

Saul Williams is a performance poet,, an actor (he’s worked with Halle Berry and Kevin Spacey), and has published three books, and is a real MC… his poems are studied as part of the curriculum of several American colleges… as a poet/artist/actress I really admire his drive and his work… his work is unexpected the things he discusses are wonderful. His style isn’t typical of lyricists these days. He’s unique and I dig his style… It’d be dope to have him at the open mic I host or one of our “drive-by poetry” nights…

A story about Ntozake Shange

I had the oppertunity to perform in a high school production of “For Colored Girls…” the play changed my life. I hope to have the oppertunity to direct the play on Broadway at some point in the future… although I’m not sure how one goes about doing that…
